“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.” - Stephen Hawking
Yesterday, the British government released some of its heretofore top secret files on UFO sightings, just hours after the Vatican surprisingly announced, “belief in God and aliens is OK.” Today, Russian Muslims and Jews admit existence of UFO-people. Also yesterday, NASA announced the discovery of an object in our Galaxy astronomers had been searching for for 50 years.
Maybe it’s just the season for it. On May 11, 2001, The Disclosure Project announced the National Press Club event on the subject. Mexico held their international press conference to release their UFO sightings files on May 11, in 2004. “On May 11, 1962 NASA pilot Joseph Walker said that one of his tasks was to detect UFOs during his X-15 flights.” Two of the most notorious UFO photos of all time were taken on a farm in Oregon on May 11, 1950. OK, I know it’s not May 11, but we’re not far off. Interesting to note anyway.
Britain is not the first country to release some of their x-files. France released some of theirs in March, 2007. Of course Mexico back in 2004. Brazil in 2005 (May 20, by the way). Canada, Spain, Chile and Peru have also released theirs, but according to that article, and point well made, information on ’sightings’ doesn’t necessarily equate to coming out and saying, yes, there are aliens, and here they are.
This article so aptly asks, “what do Britain’s ‘X Files’ tell us, and why have they been released now?” Maybe some kind of imminent and inevitable contact is in the works and they’re trying to acclimate us to the idea. Or, they just can’t hide it anymore. Or, these governments are all in cahoots to completely deceive us all, masterminding some kind of worldwide deception, a la Project Bluebeam, to consolidate power and hypnotize us for awhile longer yet, so that we don’t notice all the other possibilities around us, like escape to a higher dimension, for example. Check out this YouTube video, Fake UFO Attack Plan.
The religious question always comes to mind, which is why it’s interesting to note when the Vatican noses in on UFO questions, as it has done before. Religion has been used as a way to control and conform, and certainly the Catholic Church is keen enough to keep a hold onto theirs, so their participation in this manipulation is not surprising. If something is coming and they know it (and you can be sure, they would know), they are going to want to be in on it all from the get-go. Many people have theorized about aliens in the Bible, suspicious entities behind the New Age movement, ancient genetic engineering, and interspecies warfare. Contact will change everything we think we know both in terms of history, science and technology, not to mention politics and religion. It’s a very delicate subject that might need to be reinterpreted for the next era, if the present powers want to play a role.
So, if the aliens do finally land on the White House lawn, who is ultimately responsible for helping us believe this is a good thing? Whose agenda would this be serving? Should we be paying attention to the fact that these things might be happening just before a much-anticipated theorized shift in consciousness in 2012? Does the timing have anything to do with Planet X, global warming, world war or some other kind of potential global catastrophe? Should we trust our government if they support our new space brothers? Should we be wary if they don’t?
In the UK, there has been a huge rise in UFO sightings. Russia is building a UFO center for sightings, research and observation. ABC News reported that Arizona firefighters are being trained for UFO and alien contact. A couple of months ago, rumors suggested the UN had been involved in secret meetings regarding the issue, according to sources alleged by Exopolitics Institute’s Dr. Michael E. Salla. This meeting was corroborated by a French aviator involved in the talks, and then later had to be clarified as sources were withdrawn. Perhaps it is as Dr. Salla had previously noted, as well as Dr. Greer of the Disclosure Project, that divulging the truth of alien visitations might also unveil the truth about alternate energy sources, which the current powers-that-be don’t want for obvious reasons.
UFO disclosure doesn’t make me giddy. It makes me very serious, concerned and thoughtful. Once one gets past the idea that there are such entities, one quickly finds talk of the many alien races. If that is the case there are likely many different agendas, possibly varying philosophies, capabilities and wisdom, and they might not all be love, peace and harmony.
If they did seem loving, peaceful and helpful, that would be great; I’d like to hear them tell us about the latent and inherent powers we all possess, as spiritual beings, to rise above our present condition. These are truths referred to by our greatest spiritual sages, and ones I’ve experienced firsthand. Therefore, I wouldn’t want to see them set themselves up as the new powers-that-be. We don’t need an alien messiah bringing another round of brainwashing.
On the other hand, I will accept there may be some good guys out there. Who knows if they’re interplanetary or interdimensional – or even both. They may indeed arrive to remind us of peace and love. Perhaps they might even teach us some interesting science and technology that could better our world. But certainly not if it demands our reverence or worship, or an even further consolidation of our world’s elite power structure. The subject is so enormously complicated and full of implications we haven’t thought of yet, we all need to be extremely careful what bandwagon we jump on.
Going back to Stephen Hawking; let’s not assume anything. If there are aliens and they do make their presence known, let’s not rush into anything. Be discerning. Be wise, thoughtful and balanced. Be open-minded, but not gullible. Ask the right questions. Even if they tempt us with radical free energy devices or world peace; be forewarned. Things may not always be as they seem. Remember to ask, whether they are here to serve man, or serve man for dinner.
There is a quiet place, within yourself, away from the storm. In the center of the whipping winds and stinging rain, there is sunlight, peace and tranquility.
This world, and often this blog, is often full of the terrible side of life – the things people should know about, don’t really want to know about, might want to think about and could benefit from being aware of…but also could suffer from, might be anguished by, become fearful of, or worry about.
In the center of all that, I want to remind myself and others, is a place of serenity. Of Knowing. Of a warm, all-encompassing and comforting love. It is there. At the center of all our atoms is the vacuum, that which binds and connects all things. But we must all participate in the act of finding it. At the very least we must recognize it is there and still the mind, to prepare our awareness. To create a place within ourselves for that quiet feather to land.
This can be very difficult, or it can be amazingly simple. We alone control our bodies, and our reactions towards the outer world. If we don’t – well, go back and read some of the things from my second paragraph. Yes, there are agendas, energies and devices being set against our peace of mind. But they are not our god. Our spirits have much, much greater powers than these.
Awareness is the first step. Then there are things we can do to foil them, to fight that battle. The armor is there. Find it and put it on. Go back and read the old masters. They knew this enemy. This type of struggle is exactly what they were referring to.
Enlightenment can come in a day; even in a minute, a second. Or it can come long and painfully, after much suffering. Just ask Buddha.
The Way can be lined with annoyances and unscrupulous people. But it is always there, ready to receive, ready to heal, ready to teach. Just ask Lao Tzu.
Love is our ultimate weapon. The energy we radiate back out into the world, even as we are bombarded with unimaginable atrocities and negativity, is what will change our reality. Just ask Jesus.
It’s only as hard as we think it is. We
only have as much power as we allow ourselves to have. For that matter,
the dark side only has as much power as we allow it to have. Just ask Yoda.
We are all bubbles of energy that radiate far outside our physical bodies, and interact with our reality; a feedback loop of information going in and out. Which information will we choose to receive, which shall influence us? And which shall we choose to release back out into the world?
Follow your heart, not the programmed knee-jerk reactions of your world gone mad. Take back what is rightfully yours. Peace of mind. Harmony. Start with yourself. Many will follow; meanwhile, just stay strong. Stay fiercely focused. We are poised for the most incredible journey we can imagine. Yes, – amidst the chaos of these days, is a bright and wonderful future, hiding there in the center of it all. Waiting for us to see it.
These are not pipe dreams. It can and indeed will happen. The question only remains, who will join me on this Great Journey? Who will be there to guide me when I fall down?
“I believe that the World Wide Web is, as a matter of fact, the noogenesis of the noosphere.” - Ralph Abraham, The Evolutionary Mind (1988)
Lawrence Hagerty wrote in The Spirit of the Internet,“…the Internet is not the noosphere. It is merely an infrastructure that is now available for the noosphere to use.” Hagerty goes on to profess, “I believe that the Internet is serving as just such an attractor, or basin of attraction, drawing the Earth’s most creative minds into a synergistic union out of which a new form of human consciousness can arise from the wells of chaos.“
The noosphere is a term created by Jesuit priest/radical thinker Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, whose ideas were frankly force-fed to me in college in the eighties (I happened to attend a Jesuit university where he was practically worshiped as a god). For that reason perhaps I wrongly assumed his teachings were more widespread than they actually were at the time. But I find no uncertain irony that his ideas continue to haunt my own delightfully synchronous journey towards Singularity.
Not the technological singularity of Ray Kurzweil; I’m talking more about what’s happening over at Reality Sandwich, and other important, alternative think tanks of our time. “New science” is termed thusly because, reminiscent of Capra’s intuitions of decades past, scientific discoveries are merged with new (and perhaps very old) interpretations of consciousness. This is how it should be; the Newtonian universe must ultimately be discarded in favor of the quantum discoveries that tickle our brains, easing us into new frontiers of existence, consciousness and human evolution. The homo cyber I find mentioned here and there, if left alone in the wilderness of pure artificial or mechanistic intelligence, would be the unfortunate result of not taking the final step of this process. Like refusing to take the red pill, our psyches would be left to rot inside the prison Matrix of third dimensional space-time. “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy,” reminds Shakespeare.
The Internet may be Noosphere 1.0, a precursor to an enlightened state of consciousness; or perhaps, Noosphere for Beginners, or Noosphere for Dummies. Though arguably a creation of Big Brother’s sinister and eavesdropping omnipresence, the Internet is also being used, perfectly a la Tao, as a vehicle to transmit thoughts and ideas in preparation for a purely telepathic noosphere. The next several years its role will be vastly influential in terms of the global progression of consciousness, and I urge all to participate as they can until then (or until the government curtails this freedom, much as it has done with suppressing entheogens); but at some point, perhaps soon, the circuits and transistors will go the way of the covered wagon. Many of us will leave our electronic devices abandoned on the beach as we eventually look up and realize the great sea of enlightenment and oneness is before us, and go in for a dip – never to return. The key to ridding ourselves of the shackles of this reality is love, pure and simple. Love is the thing no machine can transmit; love is the unique trait, or ability, that will catapult our transformation from homo sapiens not to homo cyber, but to homo luminus.
The minds at work on the great consciousness project at this moment are alive during this time not by accident. They are all Surfing the Tao though they may not be aware of it. We are all giving what we have, and taking what we need, in some kind of post-modern, spirit-driven, psychedelic communistic mind trip, hastened by our collective visions of 2012 and beyond. Hagerty calles it entheospace; I might describe the sensation as a sort of dreamstate, finding oneself floating down a river of consciousness, gently colliding with others riding down the same stream in a kind of synchronistic, fractal pattern of atunement, as we all slip closer to the great sea.
Daniel Pinchbeck’s first book was entitled, Breaking Open the Head – which I mention here not for its particular content, which is a mind-expanding examination of the entheogenic experience, but because it so aptly illustrates my own particular state of being.
My own head cracked in college, during several misguided entheogenic experiences. I discovered Terence McKenna, but as far as spirituality goes, I was definitely a seeker who didn’t really want to spend any time looking.
This all changed in 1999. The previous fracture, which had begun to scar over, was rent asunder, and a torrent of new knowledge and higher frequencies began to stream in. I will only say: the true masters are truly hidden. And it is meant to stay that way, for now, perhaps because actual participants can often teach each other more in the beginning. But I was urged to continue meditating, and before long I had what Neil Kramer over at The Cleaver might call a fourth dimensional experience.
Without any entheogenic aid, I crossed over into the void. Suddenly, I Knew.
There are no further words for what I experienced. The language simply doesn’t exist. But it changed everything I knew, all that I was. What followed was years of reading, researching, listening, loving, meditating and change. Many of the books that appeared as if by magic I have listed here. My intellectual side was frustrated, but my spirit was at peace for the first time I can remember in my adult life. The end result of that was, I wrote a book, which was really just a cathartic expression of my overwhelmed psyche.
My own path is still guided by amazing synchronicity and coincidence. I find it startling how often I find articles written about the very subject I had been ruminating about. How I discover brilliant minds have already found answers to the questions I have been asking. How so many of our paths are beginning to converge on the Great Path. Spirituality, Taoism, 2012, eschatology, Planet X, the Matrix, conspiracy, sinister agendas, alien technology, symbology, synchromysticism, mind control, electromagnetism, alternative energy, quantum physics, plasma physics, torsion physics, entheogenic-inspired thought and conscious enlightenment, ecocentric living, — the puzzle pieces are coming together rapidly. I cannot explain how I know what I Know, yet I will say; the quickening is upon us. The noosphere is coalescing. The Puzzle of Being, and the question of consciousness, is in the process of being realized by a vast cadre of psycho-cryptographers.
The great irony is, I sense, that this enlightened, super-charged, noospheric state of being is and has always has been, here and now. This ancient Way that has been lost during our fall, over perhaps hundreds of thousands of years, is now being quickly rediscovered, picked up and dusted off as some kind of primordial reflex to protect ourselves from what we subconsciously know is coming. We are remembering, so that we will survive.
I remember Y2K. Regarding expectations for 2012, the intensity of thought, intellect, spirit, and energy now in 2008 is somewhat on par with what happened the months previous to Y2K. And we have nearly five years left. What incredible postulations, theories, discoveries, transitions, realizations, opportunities, manifestations, creations and expectations will surface between now and then?
And what will happen on December 21, 2012 at 11:11 universal time? That remains to be seen; but to prepare for either global catastrophe, psychedelic wormholes or simply more life as we know it – the only answer is, and always will be: love, peace and harmony.
Sometimes I wonder how I find what I do here online – and when I do, I wonder what else I’m missing. I’m only one person. Only one computer. Only so many hours in the day.
If you’ve made it this far, please consider leaving a comment here regarding what author, what religion, what spiritual path, what thinker, what scientist, what discovery, what issue, what website, what experience – what ANYTHING that has made a difference for you on your journey.

As it acts in the world, the Tao
is like the bending of a bow.
The top if bent downward;
the bottom is bent up.
It adjusts excess and deficiency
so that there is perfect balance.
It takes from what is too much
and gives to what isn’t enough.
– Tao Te Ching #77
Yes, things have been crazy around here.
I am working on a few ideas right now but for whatever reason the Tao
has me surfing other breaks at the moment. I’ll be here soon…It’s All Good
…
There is a time for being ahead,
a time for being behind;
a time for being in motion,
a time for being at rest,
a time for being vigorous,
a time for being exhausted;
a time for being safe,
a time for being in danger.
The Master sees things as they are,
without trying to control them.
She lets things go their own way,
and resides in the center of the circle.

As I gather research for my upcoming posts, I thought I’d share a short meditation I use quite often to remind myself of what’s really important.
Repeat three times:
I am love, I am peace, I am harmony.
Love I am, peace I am, harmony I am.
Take a deep breath, exhale slowly and go give someone a hug!
“If you want to know me, look inside your heart.” -Tao Te Ching #70
Aloha
Prophecy is a difficult subject for me, not because I think it’s not possible, but simply because there are so many false voices out there that a lot of disinformation and propaganda gets let in through the open doors. I mean, how many times have people set a date for the end of the world in the past? Don’t get me started on that one.
On the other hand, I do believe many people will be able to determine without much difficulty some of the likely events that are to come. It doesn’t take a psychic to see there will probably be another really big, terrible “terrorist” attack sometime in the near future. All you have to do is read the news.
It’s also pretty clear we are being groomed for world government. Right now, fear is being used to great advantage towards that goal. However, and unfortunately, so is love and what people see as “doing the right thing”. For example, some believe environmental issues are one way to manipulate us into accepting world government. I mentioned in a past post that immigration is noted by some as a machination for the North American Union, which is one stop closer to world government. After watching some of Michael Moore’s new Sicko, I realized with at start that the health care issue will likely be another turning point in that debate. Clever, they are.
At some point, we will be so fatigued from war,
terrorist threats, economic hardship, weather-related disasters,
hunger, poverty and whatever other such things you can think of, that
the world will begin to clamor for a strong world union that will make all those issues as well as health care, environmental pollution and even religious division a thing of the past. The EU is quite far along on this path, and North America, Asia and Africa are close behind. I know; it sounds good,
but if you don’t think all of those things and more have been a result
of the machinations of the world’s elite for decades and even centuries
(and that the roots are based in suspicious religious symbology)
in order to fulfill their goal of ultimate power, you have a lot of
reading to do. It’s not secret any longer; it’s just not discussed
every night on CNN. I pay attention when people like Bob Woodward warn
us about the “secret government.” They are hard at work immantentizing the eschaton.
The hardest part will be, the new order won’t seem bad. In fact it will seem the very essence of love, peace and harmony. The elites will most likely sacrifice many of their own organizations in order to fulfill this part of their plan. And many others are already being formed in the name of saving the planet. It will be easy to manipulate the masses with such a scam, especially if they are weary, hungry and sick - or even devastated by a worldwide catastrophe like nuclear war or a polar shift. In such a scenario, many who are against microchipping now will cave and take the mark. And you don’t have to be a believer in the book of Revelation to be suspicious of that.
By that time I, and many others like me, will likely be erased from the Internet. That is why I feel it’s important to pass on these thoughts now. I’m not claiming to be a prophet or setting any dates; I’m only saying what I think many others could see too, simply if they read history and today’s headlines. I can’t say how many years it will take. 2012 casts a big shadow, but I’m not putting my money there or anywhere. When I search my spirit, though, I am warned that time is very short. This will be dealt with in our generation. The agenda is gaining momentum, and personally I give it only a few years, if that.
I’m not sure why I feel so moved to warn that these things may happen. I feel if I can do anything besides, it would be to provide moral support, because no matter what happens, it will still be all good. Though I deny my insights are any deeper or greater than anyone else’s, nor can I prove it to anyone, I will share that I have had personal experiences that have led me to Know that we are destined for a bright and wonderful future where these powers-that-be don’t exist. Just keep walking and Know, this too will pass. Meanwhile keep Surfing the Tao. Live in love, but pay attention. Have no fear, but don’t wallow in ignorance. Prepare and protect your loved ones. Simply Knowing these things will set us free in a way we cannot even begin to imagine right now.
“Those who try to control, who use force to protect their power, go against the direction of the Tao.” -Tao Te Ching, #77
If you spend time investigating any of the strange and even disturbing elements of our present global reality, it’s easy to become disheartened or even anxious or desperate. It’s not uncommon to feel this way and if you have, you’re not alone. I spend a lot of time sifting through quite a bit of difficult material every day, and I still have moments when the potential future hits me so hard I lose my breath. As I gather information for a post, sometimes I have to close my laptop and go do something else for awhile. It can be overwhelming, no matter how many years one has been awake. Who hasn’t thought about going back and taking the blue pill? The red one can be bitter and acrid indeed.
I was listening to one of the alternative radio talk show hosts the other day, and he and his guest were discussing how some young people, though fully aware of the coming ‘new order’ and all its controversial agendas and organizations, agree to join the powers-that-be rather than be on what they think will be the ‘losing side.’ I’m not sure which is more difficult to assimilate: that there are people out there that Know, yet consciously choose to join the bad guys, and that they actually believe it will be the ‘winning side’; or that the ones who decide to remain and fight against the machine will have a very, very difficult time indeed.
Yes, our future will be full of misery and chaos. But we are already living in the future. From microchipping to prophetic warnings; from droughts to floods, earthquakes and fires; from secret cabals and wars to chemicals in our food and air, our world is very quickly becoming a difficult place to live purely, simply and at peace – and it will surely become progressively worse in the next few years. I have no illusions about that, and I spend quite a bit of time meditating on remaining in a place of serenity despite the chaos. There are still pockets of truth and warmth, we just have to find and then protect them.
When we got married, my husband and I had this short phrase inscribed inside our wedding bands, a phrase that meant a lot to us spiritually then, and still means a great deal to us today. It’s one of the ways we’ve gotten through some hard times. Trust me, I know the arguments; many say, it can’t be ‘all good’ – there has to be bad to be good. Or, then that would mean evil is good, and so forth. Philosophically, yes, one can go around in circles on this one. But the phrase has taught me some very simple yet sturdy spiritual lessons that have aided me in my daily life. First, I have had to learn to trust that God, the Tao, has got it all worked out. He’s perfectly aware of what’s going on, and there is a Plan – even if most of it is beyond me. I can’t prove this; I just know it from my own personal experiences of synchronicity and spontaneous knowledge. It’s not my job to worry about anything: not about money or health, not even about global catastrophic destruction or a global police state. Worry is the opposite of faith and will get me nowhere.
Another lesson for me is that whatever seems ‘bad’ now can often turn into something good; the silver lining philosophy. This is very much a tenet of Taoism, and even Christianity; “turn your scars into stars” is a favorite teaching I heard from a minister awhile back; the thought can give you hope even if it seems impossible at the time. And lastly, that we all have a choice every moment to act either with love or with evil intent – this is how the wheat is separated from the chaff. God, the Tao, wants us to choose love, to choose Him; without that choice, we wouldn’t be able to love so strongly, or Know Him as completely, because we wouldn’t know the difference. So in the end, even evil has its purpose. I know, it’s a difficult notion to absorb and certainly I don’t claim to be an authority on this; I’m just sharing how I get through the day. I imagine we all have a way to explain the evils of the world so we can make it though. Those who don’t are likely having a very hard time indeed. Whatever works for you, I like to say.
Surfing the Tao is about how you live your life even though all this crazy stuff is going on. It’s about being nice to your neighbor even though you just got fired. It’s about raising your children with wisdom and respect, even though you suspect the future could be bleak. It’s about recycling even if the End is Near. It’s about lending a hand, teaching the truth and spreading love and awareness, lest Hosea ring true, “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. Though there are sure to be many truly bloody battles ahead of us, the most important battle is in our hearts, in our spirits; that part of us which is connected to the eternal. Be a spiritual warrior: stay strong, stay wise, stay grounded. Be aware but not afraid. Know, but be at peace. Teach, yet be gentle. Remember, the future has already happened: it is done, and the good have won. A better world is already waiting for us. We just need to keep walking towards it. As Lao Tzu wisely suggested, “accomplish the great task by a series of small acts.” We all have a role to play in this final act; deep in your heart, you probably already know what yours is.
Love is the answer; love is the why, the how and the what. In the end, love really will be all we need. In the end, love will be all that is left. Practice it now, today, and every moment. Spread the word and have no fear, for love is not just soft and tender, but also ferocious and determined, like a lioness defending her cubs. God is with us and He has not left us in the wilderness to perish.
“Striving to increase awareness of our spiritual natures as well as the news, technologies and agendas which influence them.”
Well it’s obvious there is quite enough material to keep us busy on the “news, technologies and agendas” part of that mission statement. It’s the “increasing awareness of our spiritual natures” part that can be challenging, though it really is far more important. We often cannot control our circumstances; only how we react to them.
I’m not going to preach, because truthfully every person has their own Walk, and goes at different rates. Not everyone is ready to live completely in faith – though I can tell you for my own part, right now my own circumstances would have me feel like I am walking across the Abyss supported only by a warm breath of air. It might seem like I’m in danger, but for some reason I never fall in. By now I recognize the feeling, and the chasm itself, for what it is, and the Walk has gotten easier. Not easy – just easier.
I’ve had eight years to work on this transformation within myself. Seeing the world with new eyes, carefully witnessing the magic as well as the malicious; living in the Tao - living with this awareness of ‘God’ as an active participant in my life – it’s been a tremendous adjustment. Some days I’m more tuned in than others; sometimes outer circumstances affect me, other times I easily find that center of stillness amidst the chaos. It has taken a lot of focused, concentrated effort to get where I am, and I admit I still have a long way to go on my own spiritual Walk. On the other hand if you knew me back in the ‘90s I imagine you’d be surprised at the person I’ve become. ;)
I lost a lot of friends at first. Actually, nearly all of them disappeared. I had become changed almost overnight, and it was hard on many of them, especially those so deeply committed to old habits. It was hard on me too. A few miraculous friendships did survive however, and I now treasure them deeply; not only that, I’ve made new friends, and even reconnected with a very old one. (Ok, she’d kill me for that - she’s not old, far from it; but the friendship goes way back). If you’d ask me what I’ve learned looking back so far, it’s that Someone knows what I need better than I do; I just learn to let go, focus on love, and pay attention to the helicopters. Even though the first few steps can seem dark, pretty soon other possibilities and circumstances arise and I’m around the bend, onto something so much greater than I could have imagined. The people that are in my life now are positive forces – especially my family. I was raised in a supportive environment and then married into another one, so I’ve really been blessed in that regard.
I wish I could say in one simple sentence how to rise above it all – ok, I can: “Live in love.” But easier said than done, right? There are methods of attaining one’s internal connection with and awareness of the Higher Power, and many great and wise sages have attempted to teach us about this throughout the ages. The greatest truths are the most simple, however; truly, how much better of a world would it be if we all really did live in love? Amazing, no doubt - but meanwhile, we must often tread through the muck of other people’s egos, fear, greed, anger and hate, so…the least we can do is work on cleaning up our own muck.
As I’ve said before, surfing is a challenging sport, but once learned, the ecstasy is indescribable. It is an individual sport, and each participant must learn how to balance and avoid the reefs on their own. Just don’t forget there is a powerful swell of compassionate, loving energy all around us who wants to keep us upright and moving forward. Connect with that Source and find support in troubled times: seek first love, peace and harmony and the rest will come.
“Open yourself to the Tao, then trust your natural responses; and everything will fall into place.” Tao Te Ching #23
I am working hard to promote the message of love. The simple act of choosing love, with our free wills, can manifest a higher frequency of love, peace and harmony, perhaps someday changing us, and our world, for the better. Some can argue, how can we know we have free will; indeed it is a subject for philosophical debate. But in the end it doesn’t matter; within the illusion of our reality, we can still choose love. And because for some this simple act may be so contrary to the way we are taught to live in this selfish, consumer-driven society, I call it revolutionary.
Forgive, turn the other cheek, and love your enemies. This seemingly impossible task will transform your life, your very consciousness and ability to perceive. This is what it truly means to ‘Surf the Tao’. To ride the wave, the swell of love, in each moment, and not be swayed by anything negative or attempt to reroute the ‘Flow’, is what it means to be ‘enlightened.’ Save yourself, and the world, by joining the silent, internal revolution of free will.
What would our world be like?
Choosing love sounds easy,
But how many of us do it every moment?
And if we all did,
What would our world be like?
We can’t control other people
Just how we react to them
The hardest thing we’ll ever do
Is forgive someone who doesn’t deserve it.
This doesn’t absolve their guilt…
It just takes it out of our hands.
And frees our minds and spirits
For other things.
To truly save our world
We must all dig deep within ourselves
The ultimate truths are not in a book
They are asleep along with our spirits.
We all create our own reality.
We can either to choose to walk in love
Or not.
It’s too bad the simplest things
Can also be the most difficult.
“Surfing the Tao” is a phrase created in an attempt to nutshell what could be the most important aspect of spiritual truth, or the Way of Life. A reader once sent me a great quote, “It is a lot like surfing... you catch a wave by being prepared, timing your move and having your board in position. Like surfing, you have some control, but the Flow has all the power.” Since I live in Hawaii the analogy seemed appropriate; and indeed there is a certain zen to the sport.
If you’re just hearing about “Surfing the Tao” here are a few bullet points. It’s not about any particular religion; it’s about how we choose to live each moment, although it does contain spiritual concepts from all corners of the world. We can argue endlessly about who is ‘right’ – but in so doing we could be missing the point. Each person has their own path to walk, and we all find truth in our own ways. However, as our greatest sages have remarked, eventually our paths will all converge on the Great Path.
Our great spiritual teachers have all encouraged love in the search for enlightenment. Many have defined “God” (or Tao, Father, Force, Beloved, Brahman, Great Spirit; whatever) as that flowing consciousness of love, the goal being to become “one” with this Force. So the basic idea of “Surfing the Tao” is choosing love for direction of your actions. The truth is simple – not easy, but simple. Still your mind and instead listen to your spiritual nature, that which is connected to the Tao, the Force. Allow the Tao to flow through you, and hop on for the ride of your life. Use various methods – you can use a long board or a short board, right-footed or left, but you’re still allowing the wave to carry you.
Surfing is an individual sport, and Surfing the Tao is a silent, inner revolution of spirit. The outer world will not provide the whole answer. Truth is within you; amplify the Voice by tuning in to love. Then, one person at a time, we can change our reality to one of peace and harmony.Surfing the Tao.com
