Everyone’s still amazed and relieved after the “miraculous, heroic” crash landing of US Airways flight 1549 in the Hudson river today. All 155 people on board are safe. Already a few interesting comments, one from Collaborate with Fate on the astrological resonance to 9/11, and some cool synchs from Thuther over at Conspiracy Grimoire, who points out it was quite a day today in many respects, including news of life on Mars. Let’s keep in mind we are just days away from an historical inauguration (under unprecedented “police state” security: check out Obama’s new ride also announced today, appropriately nicknamed ‘the Beast‘).

A 7.3 earthquake shook the Kuril islands today spurring tsunami warnings in the Pacific, and a 6.8 hit down in the Loyalty islands. A 3.8 earthquake was confirmed near the Idaho-Wyoming border, which shook a few nerves there. While it was not big enough to cause any damage, this tremor was noticeable due to the flurry of earthquakes near and around the Yellowstone region the past couple of weeks, where lurks a dozing supervolcano which has overslept.

Here in Hawaii a large storm front is bringing gusty winds and very high surf. Many schools have closed for tomorrow in anticipation, and rumors are government offices will also be closed. BIG waves coming, but so far, unruly Kona winds have knocked out the big-wave surfing competitions that are always hoped for.

Also, I just had to mention the bizarre UFO news story that has popped up in the mainstream media recently, of the wind turbine in the UK having been damaged by a strange jellyfish UFO, according to witnesses in the area. From a New York Times blog: Do Space Aliens Dislike Wind Power, or Are They Just Clumsy? How about a secret Russian connection? One researcher suggests the ‘tentacles’ were plasma beams from an exotic propulsion system. WTF?

On December 26, the world started rumbling its discontent a little louder. Swarms of earthquakes began under Yellowstone, which continued all week to the consternation of scientists. The largest quake so far, a 3.9, happened on the 27^th, the day Israel began air assaults against Gaza. A week later, a series of earthquakes in Indonesia killed several people and generated a tsunami warning, as Israeli ground forces entered the fray.

The planet seems to be continuing to spark on multiple levels.

“Change” has practically become a trigger word by now. Millions of people, even around the world, are focused on “change” as a new administration waits in the wings. Can we take this energy and use it to do some good, kool-aid notwithstanding? Or are we just being emotionally prepared for massively crushing changes, such as a natural disaster or world war of epic magnitude?

As 2009 dawns, a renewed sense of hope, perhaps largely due to the recent U.S. election, wants desperately to take hold. However, we were warned to expect something big to test the incoming administration. Current events could be setting that stage. I am not unaware that this change.gov will likely continue to use the world’s various troubles, including perhaps some impending catastrophe, to further consolidate global power for the growing international system in the works. The transition team is now “open for questions” and making very good use of the Internet; whether it truly is to create positive change, or just log and record our thoughts a little more closely under the guise of interactiveness, I can’t say for sure. But one can clearly see seeds of hope there among the people struggling to sprout, even as more war looms.

I do believe, the incoming administration has every intention of making some powerful changes that millions of people will consider to be good. That is how this could work; that is one way the overall majority of people across the globe will willingly take shelter under the One coming banner, whether it is him at the helm, or someone else on the program. Blair calls on Obama to use his presidency to unify the world…

The timing of this new break-out in the war in the Middle East could provide a good opportunity for Obama to sweep in a save the day. At least let’s hope that’s what the plan is, before anything close to WWIII starts to light up, and more innocent lives are lost. Because that is another way it could work. Imagine a global version of the Patriot Act.

What he could possibly do to assist the large portion of middle America that would be devastated if the supervolcano under Yellowstone actually went off, one cannot even begin to imagine. Today, for the first time in over a week, the tremors seem to have subsided, though there are reports of a 4.2 in Northern California and another in northeastern Nevada which one site called a 4.3, but the USGS claims only 3.6. Also today, a 6.2 in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and more large aftershocks in Indonesia.

This is not a time to remain ignorant of the various manifestations of our world’s discontent. However just running around yelling about the sky falling doesn’t do any good either. This is a time to shore ourselves up; to find that place of peace within ourselves. If we can each do this first, a greater community peace can take hold and spread. If we have to live through more tragedy as we do this; so be it. Be the eye of the hurricane. There will always be chaos; we need to learn how to navigate it while remaining balanced.

We have not been left alone in the wilderness. It might seem that way sometimes, but if you look inside yourself, you will find great wisdom waiting to be tapped. We are all part of a larger sea of awareness; we connect with Everything within the void, or the vacuum, of our atoms, where our spirits reside; where the love is. The Truth contained there will guide us through. Now is the time to understand what we each need to prepare for, and how.

Then, last week someone here told me there had been some changes at Kilauea’s Halemaumau crater, and that the vog might get better. It has been clearer here the past few days, though it’s hard to tell from the reports. Pele always has been unpredictable.

Though I wasn’t as awed by this most recent Journey to the Center of the Earth retelling as I’d hoped, I must admit I do remain captivated by the theory of a hollow earth and its history, proponents and suggested evidence. Since discovering old volumes of Hollow Earth and Etidorhpa years ago, my own Verneian imagination continues to entertain Indiana Jones-type fantasies of falling for miles and miles through a cavernous entrance towards an adventure of unknown proportions in some Middle Earth-like locale with strange beasts and giant plants.

I don’t know; maybe I saw too many episodes of Land of the Lost when I was a kid. Anyway there’s no doubt our entertainment industry has done a good job of maintaining the fictional status of these wild ideas. Impossible, says mainstream science, for the earth to be hollow. Even those who take the UFO question seriously often doubt the Hollow Earth, we are so steeped in the solid earth and molten core of our schooling (though others claim UFOs are actually from the inner earth realms).

A few braver, more radical adventurers and researchers have spoken out against the establishment, despite the risk of endangering professional credentials not to mention their very lives. Admiral Richard Byrd couldn’t help speaking out about his controversial trip to the ‘Land beyond the poles’, and many believed he was killed for doing so. More recently, Steve Currey, the head of a planned expedition to the inner earth in 2007, suddenly died of brain cancer. He had reported having been approached by an agent of the Illuminati who wanted to finance (and control) the expedition. Without question, scientific ridicule is the penalty for bringing up the topic at all, even as historical and mythological lore contain stories from all kinds of cultural sources about missing explorers, and hidden tunnel systems leading to mysterious areas beneath the surface. Even the Mormons have their own stories.

Jan Lamprecht is author of Hollow Planets. When you research the evidence from other planets in the solar system one must admit it is curious. The hundreds of miles of earth’s crust still leaves plenty of room for surface volcanism, and the idea of an internal dynamo, a kind of plasma arc singularity at the center, seems to account for the aurorae in a profound way, not to mention the magnetic dynamics of the planet as a whole. The Hollow Earth blog contains all kinds of interesting links and information to follow on these subjects.

Why are there no more solid photographic evidence of such holes in the poles? And why doesn’t someone go check it out? Listen to Lamprecht and Dr. Brooks A. Agnew, the new head of the planned expedition now scheduled for August 2009, talk more about the evidence and future plans. The investigation notes constant polar cloud cover and missing sections of satellite photographs, as well as strange radiations from the poles of other planets and the hollow ringing of the earth like a bell after large earthquakes. And, if indeed there is a secret civilization inside with an agenda, as related by the Thule Society and other theosophical writings, one imagines this mystery may not want to reveal itself until it’s ready – and then perhaps with unfortunate results.

Hollow Earth theory may be one of the most radical of them all in terms of alternative scientific concepts. Is this all simply symbolic reference to higher truths about our inner selves? Or is there an ancient tunnel system throughout the planet, connecting secret surface entrances to a hidden kingdom within? Do mysterious guardians maintain the secrecy to keep ignorant surface dwellers from getting in – or an even more horrible race of beings from getting out? Is the inner earth inhabited by the lost tribes of Israel, or the Serpent races? Is it a magical land, like Agharta or Shambhala, inhabited by enlightened beings, or the pits of hell infested with flying shapeshifting dragons? Considering legends of earth’s inhabitants escaping massive surface cataclysm by fleeing to the inner regions, one wonders if it has anything do with all the engineered underground bases, cities and tunnel systems created by our modern governments, and the rumors of an upcoming event in 2012?

These questions and more tease and tantalize those willing to venture outside the box, and down a very, very deep hole of brain-twisting imaginings and alternative science. I can only wonder; is this rabbit hole simply proverbial, or - perhaps something much more material? Should we take note from the vermin scurrying inside the holes during these seemingly pre-apocalyptic years? Or are we being prepared for illumination by voices from below?

Or – perhaps it is simply to Know, things may not be at all as they seem, and yet, the Way will be made clear when the time is right.
